Object of the Game
The objective of Klondike Solitaire is to move all the cards to foundation piles, sorted by suit and in ascending order, starting from Ace to King. The ultimate goal is to arrange the entire deck into these foundation piles, showcasing your card-moving prowess.
Setting Up the Game
- Shuffle the deck and deal out seven tableau piles from left to right, with the first pile containing one card, the second containing two cards, and so on, until the seventh pile has seven cards.
- Place the remaining deck face-down to create the draw pile.
- Turn the top card of the draw pile face-up and place it next to the draw pile; this becomes the foundation pile’s base card.
- Keep the rest of the space for the foundation piles, which will be built upon as you progress.
Playing the Game
- Building Tableau Piles:
- You can move face-up cards between tableau piles, adhering to descending card ranks and alternating colors.
- A King can be moved to an empty tableau space, allowing you to unveil cards from the draw pile.
- Stacks of cards can also be moved between tableau piles to uncover hidden cards.
- Moving to Foundation Piles:
- Begin the foundation piles with Aces, and continue by adding cards in ascending order within each suit.
- Drag cards from the tableau piles to the foundation piles as opportunities arise.
- Draw Pile Usage:
- The draw pile can be turned over one card at a time.
- If a drawn card cannot be placed, it is moved to a waste pile, which can be cycled through three times.
Winning the Game
You win a game of Klondike Solitaire is achieved when all cards have been moved to the foundation piles, forming sequences of each suit from Ace to King.
